JAZZ GROUPS
Jason has worked as a bandleader for several years and is capable of providing top quality jazz groups for public and private events. Jazz bands can range in size from duet to sextet with horns. Trio format is usually drums, bass and piano or guitar. Musical selections performed focus on traditional 50's and 60's jazz performed by artists such as Miles Davis, Thelonius Monk and Dexter Gordon. Jason also calls on earlier compositions by swing artists such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Louis Armstrong along with classic standards by the Gershwins, Cole Porter and Henry Mancini. Well devoted to Brazilian and Latin music, Jason chooses from a large catalog of compositions by such composers as Antonio Carlos Jobím, Louis Bonfa, and Astrud Giberto. Jason's collaboration with guitarist Isaac Carter, The Guitar Duo, specializes in Brazilian music such as bossa nova and samba. A favorite for fine dining restaurants, The Duo is consistently working. The Duo has performed at Rose Pistola in North Beach steadily for over three years and also appears weekly at Carneros Restaurant in Sonoma. The Duo takes bi-annual trips to New York performing at The Blue Fin on Times Square, Blue Water Grill and Park Avalon. The wine country of Sonoma County yields many venues for The Duo including such wineries as Viansa, Benziner, Ledson, Chateau Souverain, Armeda and Kunde. Jason is available as a professional drummer and guitarist for live performances and recording projects. Jason's versatility is a key factor to his steady work and consistent demand. Specializing in such styles as jazz, rock, funk, Latin, R&B, blues and hip-hop to name a few, Jason is on call and always considering new projects from bands, singer/songwriters and producers. Travel and touring is welcome along with substitute/fill in gigs. Jason has multiple recording credits on drums, guitar and percussion along with producing, engineering, arranging and composition credits. Jason works steadily out of several Bay Area Studios such as Conscious Sound Productions and Studio Organix and is well acquainted with precise, pop-structured, charted arrangements along with arrangements calling for interpretation and improvisation. Jason is experienced with Pro-Tools and welcomes click-track, loops and modern recording concepts. Collaborations are also welcome and encouraged.
